We just had donated to us at the store a HUGE Sony Trinitron 36" CRT. I noticed a few things.
The Genesis bootup screen says "Licensed by Sega..." and on the smaller screens we have it displays fine. On this one, it displays dots and you can actually count them.
In contrast, the Sega CD has a higher resolution, and seems to handle it perfectly. While it's still displaying in the slightly blocky 16-nit way, it's nowhere near as pixel-countable as with the Genesis console by itself. The CD displays just as it would on the smaller 20" screens we have there.

Link if you'd like to see the CD in action. I didn't take a video of the Genesis alone, though. I'm really thinking about it!!
