Erik, I've been getting strange errors in the bbs software. Have you seen this? Is this since your last upgrade?

If so, maybe I'll hold up on upgrading my site. :)

It depends on what errors you're seeing.

We just moved domains and there were probably a few issues with regards to that.

It may also be that this host provider sucks (I may be switching again soon.)

What errors specifically and when?

Well, it's as much my fault as anything. . . I jumped too quickly and may have made a slight mistake.

I've seen some good things and some bad things said about the host. I am a bit concerned about one significant issue, though - they have a limit on the number of database transactions that you can do in an hour!

I don't think we'd hit it now, but if the boards grow much more then we could be in trouble. I can cancel without losing anything in the first 30 days so I'll spend some time soon doing a bit more research and, if I find something better, I may just jump.

We'll see.

Let me know what errors you see, though. If that limit impacts us we're gone for sure.

Meanwhile, cool things are coming soon!! :)

Hmm, None of the providers around here have any limitations. Mine gave me a free static IP just because I am running a server 24/7.

There are some providers that don't have restritions, some are the feared "Network Nazis" That have limitations all over the place. You just to either get lucky and find the provider that lets you do anything, or find a middle ground between the two......

Best of Luck!

Yeah. The provider I switched from didn't like a bunch of the common scripts out there and wasn't too happy that I was running PHPBB!

Plus we were getting those timeout errors there. At least those are gone now!

I'll find a good host. Really I will. . . ;)

Worst case is that I lean on some friends of mine for assistance. I know some really smart, plugged in people around here, internet-wise! :D

The words "Leased Line" "T-carrier" "Optical Carrier" come to mind....

I would offer to run it off my server tempory but I'm stuck with an Asynchronous DSL line, so speeds would suck.....

1.1Mbps down (soon to be 8Mbps down and 512Mbps up) and they didn't tell me the current up speed.

I have gotten three different emails in the past two days, informing me that a new private message has arrived, but when I check my messages, nothing new appears. I can't tell if the system is just sending me extra email, or if it has eaten the actual messages. (If anyone has sent me any real messages in the last couple days, try resending, please).
