Hello all.

Bought this off of ebay recently, and I need a potentiometer that is hard to find. If anyone has an OEM NOS or one that will/can be adjusted to work I'd very much appreciate it. It's fun getting 40+ year old gaming systems a new life. It's one of the old Pong games of the 70s. The paddle is unstable - bad pot. I'd much rather put a new one on the board than clean it with contact spray. I'm not a engineer or hot shot repair guy - just an older IT guy in retirement wanting to have fun now.

I've attached some pics; I tried Mouser and Digi-key and Megatone Electronics - no luck; not even close.

If anyone can help I'd be greatly appreciated. A user Stargunner from AtariAge suggested modifying a similar POT - may try it.

Thank you!

It looks like an allen-bradley style 500k potentiometer. Question is though if it's a linear or logarithmic pot.

This is a similar one on Ebay, but you'll have to grind the key in the shaft:

Before you go buying a replacement though, you should try spraying some contact cleaner on the wiper. it looks like the wiper and tracks are open to the air from the side view, you can even see a wiper in the 3rd pic.

Use contact cleaner and wipe the pot back and forth several times while also inspecting the track the wiper rides on. If it looks pitted, has grooves or is in otherwise deteriorating condition, then you should get some replacements.
