I'm looking to start writing 6502 assembly, specifically for the VIC-20, and I'm not sure what tools to start with. I'd like something that color codes the assembly commands in some way, since it's a bit hard for me personally to see what I'm doing with a traditional black text on a white background text editor, but I'm not sure if any programming IDE's support that kind of stuff with 6502 assembly. I'm also not sure what assembler I should use. I could in theory convert it by hand, since it's just assembly to hex, but that would be a very error prone process I'd think. Does anyone have any places to start? Thanks!

I did a Google search on "VIC-20 IDE" and got several hits. The first appears to be a Windows IDE that allow Commodore programming.

Oh cool, thanks!! That looks like it’s exactly what I want. I didn’t find that when I looked, but I also used different search terms. Thank you!!

Yep, different search terms often change what you get if anything. Been there myself. Keep us informed of how well it works. Have fun.

To be completely transparent, I have yet to have much luck with CBM prg Studio. (Maybe it's tuned more for the C= 64?) -OGM
