Hi - I'm glad to meet you! I started professional life as a programmer in the mid 1980s, working on a lot of fun things that were well before their time, like hypermedia, pen computing, and online services. Now I only program when there's something so unimportant that we don't want to distract an actual engineer. Over the years I did a good job of moving out old hardware when new came along, but I couldn't resist holding on to some of the GO Corporation and Eo machines.

I just fired up the Eo 440 for the first time in a while, and it was pretty cool to see it run. Well, more of a majestic slow walk, but you know what I mean.

My main interest in joining is to learn where these things should live next, but I'm also looking forward to contributing where I can.

Hello and welcome to VCF forums. I remember looking at pen computers years ago and I wondered if they would be useful in our small retail business. But it was too expensive an investment for a small "mom and pop". Most of that stuff was for big corporations. I did end up buying into Palm and Handspring. Later I bought some tablets from Apple and Lenovo. I never could make any of the pen/palm/android tablets stick for use in our business. Now most of my customers come in with their own phones and we browse together on their phone and on my counter terminals running Windows 10.

I have seen some successful uses of tablets in retail. But again, usually in a big corporate setting, like the Verizon store, or on the floor of a bug multi-national trade show, etc.

As a platform for "vintage" enthusiasts you need to connect with others who remember that equipment and had good memories putting it to use. This is the first time I've seen these pen computers talked about in the context of "vintage" computers. But maybe there will be more folks coming along who are interested in connecting with you and have a shared history in the GO systems.
