Does anyone have a copy (or info. of), the 'Enhanced BASIC' program, as advertised on the attached .jpg file. It was available in the UK from AJ Harding (Molimerx).
It's in the Harding's catalogue, which is available from the download page at trs-80.org.uk

Hm, Rather than the BASIC system, my eye was caught by the EMPEROR game listed under. This sounded interesting.

No idea if it might be about, or useable? I'd need a file version, rather than a cassette tape!

But, I tried Google.

Something came up.

The Board Game Geek website has a entry for this, with a certain amount of info, incl some images. makes the game seem even more interesting. A download link would have been nice as well!

No, I think the Misosys was much later, 1986ish. The Enhanced BASIC was early 1980, according to the Harding's Catalogue.
It was cassette based software, for a M1 L2 16K setup.
I was hoping if there was a copy about, I could get it running with an Aculab Floppy Tape system (using trs80gp of course!)
I'll check Tim's site out though, in the morning!
Thanks for you input

WILLUS has a couple of other files that look to be enhanced basics but a lack of documentation makes it challenging to discern if those were what was relabeled by Molimerx.

GeoffB17: Emperor is out there in all its 13KB BASIC glory.

Thanks.

Found the .zip, unzipped.

Result is about 13k, and the text in the prog shows it IS the correct prog/game.

However the .BAS must be tokenised. The file is dated 29/08/1980, if it was done on a TRS-80 what is likely to work? Which BASIC was standard on TRS?

I've got various old BASIC progs, prob an MBASIC as well. GWBASIC might be too late? Or did the tokenising not change too much.

I'd hope to get it working on an Amstrad PCW, which has a bigger screen - may be able to spread things out a little, or show messages at the same time as the map.

Regarding EMPEROR.

Found a copy of GWBASIC, this resolved the line numbers, but most of the tokens are wrongly translated.
Could not find any earlier BASICs on my computers, maybe on an old drive. More digging.
On my PCW (cp/m) I had an old copy of MBASIC.COM, tried that. Better?? Some tokens translated that did not before. Some tokens translated, but differently, but still wrong. Some wrong tokens are now guessable as to what they should be.

Lots of TRS-80 software on the web, but not found a level II Basic yet. Found docs about such, but not a prog file!

If I find a TRS-80 basic, will this run on a std dos PC?

Geoff

This program says it will Detokenize a BASIC program:

Never tried it, as I don't have a real Model 1-4. Hopefully it will work for you.

WILLUS has Emperor in a non-tokenized format. However, some of the lines may need modification for other BASICs since many string constants don't have a closing quotation mark. There may be other differences that have to be corrected even for very similar BASICs.

I have access to these files for the Model 4:

READBAS v1.4 De-Tokenizer (19xx)(Nelson Ford)[CMD].zip
UnTokenizer for TRSDOS v6.x (19xx)(Author Unknown)[BAS].zip

It will take me a bit to locate on server.

Hi Dusty,

have you tried Ira's site?
A software search there with the term 'Enhanced BASIC' brings this result:

Could it be this 'Enhanced BASIC v1.4 [Possibly EnhBas]'?

krebizfan - Thanks for info, I've been to WILLUS which seems like it MIGHT be the right place but I don't see anything there re EMPEROR - yes, TRS stuff, games, etc. Any sort of BASIC would be fine, the sort of changes you mention would be no problem at all, I've had to do much much worse with other progs in the past.

The prog draws a (crude) map on the screen of Europe, with data on the map. I assume this uses POINT or PLOT or similar. Quite well done really for 1980.

REgarding other suggestions, the processes I've tried DO detokenise, but clearly different basics use different token codes, so the job needs doing with something that uses the correct token values.

I'll start a new thread here.

Geoff

GeoffB17: WILLUS has a search box. That is how I located Emperor in the first place. Only one result was returned with the option of viewing multiple formats. One of those formats is a clear text of the BASIC.

The drawing is done with a very long group of SET commands to turn on each location. That code uses lines 30190 to 30520.

Further to another thread ('Help Please') that I've started to hijack (apologies) I'm hoping that someone might have a TRS-80 (I guess a II) that could LOAD the prog attached, and save it as basic ASC (untokenised).

As mentiones in the prev thread, I've got the prog untokensied, but the process is wrong as the token codes are not the same.

As noted, the game includes a map of Europe so there are POINT or PLOT (or whatever the TRS used) for crude graphics. There are screen images on the web of the map for reference.

Dusty - I do not see that the program has been archived. Molimerx stuff comes to me only from those who had access to such, and that was not the USA.

Willus is just a 2005 copy of the TRS-80.com archive, so Willus is not going to have software that TRS-80.com doesn't

Sorry,
Ira

Ira - Thanks for that, I live in hope for all these silly wish-list things!!
The local Post Office still cannot take international parcels! I'll get the TRS-80 5.25 disks off to you asap. I'll shout before I send them of course.
