Hello,

I'd like to get my Amstrad PC 1640 running again. My dad bought it in the 80s for his real-estate business, and he used it up to the early 2000s. It has been stored ever since, and seems to be in good condition. He tested it some years ago, and it was still running, he even played chess on it. Unfortunately, the screen stopped working shortly thereafter.
I tested it again today, and while the PC seems to work (the hard disk and floppy disk lights blink, and I can hear it spinning) the screen stays blank. The CRT tube does warm up, though. Where could I get some help?
I live in southern Portugal.

Try to use another CRT monitor to know if the problem its in the computer itself or in the monitor. If the problem it's inside the monitor, maybe there is still a old radio-tv repair shop where you can take the monitor and maybe they can fix it (at least in my city in Spain there still are shops of this kind)
