Anyone know where I can source a replacement power cable to my Hakko FR-300? ITs really stupid this unit came with a standard power cable. I want to install one which is accidentally burn proof. And price is a factor of course.

Cleaned up my trusty Weller TCP iron yesterday and noted that it's celebrating its 50th birthday. Still have lots of tips for it. To do some connection cleanup in the handle, I used my old Ungar 777 iron, which is even older.

Yes, I have used similar cable for other applications , you can actually use the 5 core Hakko cable (normally used on the low voltage side to feed the iron) as a line power cable, the insulation is up to 120V use. I have tested it for this higher voltage application.

I used some longer lengths of it, that the seller can supply, to create 3 phase power cables to power some Airborne Conrac VDU's with 120Hz 400Hz power from a 400Hz power supply I designed to run Avionics instruments outside the plane in a workshop environment.

If you scroll to page 24 of this article you can see some cables I created using this stuff with military grade Amphenol connectors. It is very nice temperature resistant cable & flexible and nice to handle too, with a silicone rubber sheath and Teflon insulated conductors:

and the 120V 400Hz three phase supply:

In addition, silicone rubber three core heavier grade is available which has a known rating of 240V:
