Hi everyone. Very glad to have found this forum. There is not a huge amount of info about the Husky Hunter PCs on the web, I have found.

I purchased a Hunter 16 about 1 week ago, my very first Husky PC to own. Very impressed with its overall construction, very rugged.
My particular one has a model number of H-3610-5611, and serial number 3600007314
The main C drive is 1M/b in size total, and has an additional D drive with 256K of memory, appears a Flash RAM chip has been added on the main board by Logic Systems Inc. (plugged into a socket).
The second D drive has some custom software loaded onto it.

I spent many hours stuffing around with finding out what DOS & BASIC software would work on on the unit. Many crashes & lockups too !
But it has survived ok, ha ! The Hunter 16 is pretty particular with DOS software, anything with any kind of fancy graphics & color stuff going on will cause it to crash.
So forget about most games. Also, a lot of the BASIC programs I tried loading into it in GWBASIC would not load at all.
Turns out the BASIC programs have to be encoded in a certain way for them to load & run ok. Use ANSI encoding, and must have CRLF at the end of each line.
My final list of DOS & BASIC programs I have on my Hunter 16 is as follows, all verified running fine :-

RADIOLOG (DOS) - Radio logging program, is pretty good
WHERITIS (DOS) - calculates various parameters between one location to another
MORSE (BAS) - morse code generator
PLANETS (DOS) - astronomical data for all the planets, is excellent
MOONFX (BAS) - Moon phase & position data
MOONUP (BAS) - Moon rise & set times
SUNUP (BAS) - Sun rise & set times

And that's about it, kind of wish it had a little bit more memory to use....
I will post a few photos of my unit in a little while.

Cheers, Chris (Melbourne, Australia)

Some photos of my Hunter 16 unit. Has been well used, but still in good condition overall.

So I purchased a Husky Hunter 2 recently from Europe. Was pretty cheap, but in unknown working condition. The seller did try putting batteries in, left it for awhile, but no go.
I took a gamble and bought it anyway. Arrived fine today, very well packed. First thing I did was remove the back cover to inspect it. Some bad signs of corrosion on the main board already !
Removed the main board, and found it was totally stuffed, lots of battery corrosion everywhere ! If only people looked after it better...
(Corrosion from the AA batteries, not the backup battery). The keyboard flex cable was stuffed too, corrosion & fractured conductors.
At least was not a total write off. The display board assembly looks to be fine, no corrosion at all. The case can still be used. I got a nice stand with it to use with the Hunter 16, ha !
*** If anyone has a Hunter 2 in working condition and wants to sell it, please let me know. I am pretty keen to get hold of a working Hunter 2 now ***
A nice looking Hunter 2 is for sale on e-bay right now, but the postage cost to Australia is ridiculous, over 300 AUD !
Cheers, Chris.

PS - The faulty Husky is the Zeiss REC 500 version of the Hunter 2, by the way.
