Does anyone have any good pictures of the 4381 mainframe Or the 3278 terminal made by IBM? I ask simply because I found out my grandmother had a job working on one and I found several boxes of papers and stuff involving what she did on the computer. I might see if I can scan some of the interesting stuff in

Not trying to be harsh but googling both the IBM 4381 and IBM 3278 yielded a fira number of decently taken photographs.

Grandmother! Now that makes me feel slightly aged, this was the first mainframe I had to look after when I worked for IBM as a Systems Engineer. Maybe you meant your mother?

Thats a 3278-2A which is a "special" for the console on a 4381. It only has a 22/80 line display. 2 lines are reserverd for the system status. The red adn green buttons on the right start and stop the CPU. On the one I worked on the large blue power on button would bring the whole system up a cabinet at a time so it didn't trip the main breaker...

Called "Power Sequencing". It was controlled (as was the EPO) by a power sequencing cable cable from each peripheral running to the CPU alongside the Bus & Tag Channel Cables.
