IBM 5291 Terminal Configuration?

Hi,

I'm trying to configure a 5291 terminal to work with a specific terminal ID (G4) - but it keeps picking up the wrong one (G3) which is configured as a PC emulation. I've tinkered with the jumper settings on the rear & I managed to make it work on G2, which is also configured for PC emulation - but G4 is elusive! I have no manual and can't make sense of the dip switch settings.

Does anyone know what these did switches do?

Background: Our company just converted our old twinax network to run over cat5 cabling (using a twinstar intelligent repeater).

Well, have you tried flipping any of them? It appears right now to be set to "3", with switches 1 and 2 turned on. Try turning them both off and turning on switch 4...

I have no idea if that'll do what you want, but it seems a logical thing to try.

Hi Ian,

Yep - thought maybe

ID1 = 1
ID2 = 2
ID3 = 1+3
ID4 = 4
ID5 = 1+4
ID6 = 4+2

but it doesn't seem to work like that. Had hoped someone might know & remember before I start working through all the combinations.
