Hey there, if anyone happens to have some extra plastic lying around (in terms of these bezels), or can give me some good detailed pictures of these bezels for the IBM 8525, I'd appreciate it!

The IBM part numbers according to http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/eprm/eprm/f157.htm are: 00F2117 and 00F2112

I've got a 3D printer that can readily make these if only I know the construction. Thanks in advance!

I believe the ones for the 30-286 were the same so you might be able to find more details on those. And someone please correct me if I'm wrong! It's been 25 years since I researched this.

I ended up doing some serious scouring on eBay and digging around for tons of part numbers, and eventually found the bezels on eBay from Computer Trade Exchange. If you call him directly, he's willing to make some nice bundle deals.

Awesome. Glad you found one. Out of curiosity, what did you discover about the part numbers between the 20-286 and 30-286?

Well I didn't really look too closely at the 30-286 at the time... going back through my history, apparently I searched for "ibm ps/2 model 25 drive cover" which led me to this PDF http://ohlandl.ipv7.net/books/ps2-hmm.pdf containing a bunch of FRU numbers. I started searching for these FRUs and then came across this site http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/b5e2.htm (which definitely has the worst site indexing in the world; you're better off using Google-fu to navigate it). From there, I discovered some additional FRU numbers and then searched for these on eBay, where Computer Trade Exchange eventually had a match with one of these FRU numbers. I searched in their related items, and some of the FRU numbers they list don't match (or they have yet more FRU numbers) than what is listed on kev009. I called them up on the phone and talked over the FRU numbers I found with Brian, who confirmed they were correct for the 8525.

As for the 8530, kev009 lists different FRU numbers (see page 20 of http://ps-2.kev009.com/basil.holloway/boo-to-pdf/S15F_2191_00.pdf) for the 8525 & 8530, except for the 720K floppy itself. In looking at Brian's pictures on eBay, the FDD bezels look slightly different between the 33F4933 (8525) and the 27F4230 (8530).

However, to your point on this, by searching "27F4230 site : ps-2.kev009.com" on Google, it appears that the 8555 shared this part with the 30-286.

Thank you so much for the recap and resources!

I have a feeling I'll be having to restore our 30-286 since I unplugged it over a decade ago and it's been sitting since. It's been inside, but it's been without ac at times. I hope it comes back to life when I do get it running again--it was my first foray into IBMs.

You might be surprised! My 8525 and 5162 were both sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long, with what type of A/C I don't know, since fortunately the local Makerspace guys decided to raid this warehouse over the winter and dole out a bunch of free stuff. ;) The capacitors didn't look bad so I haven't bothered changing them, yet I've put many hours on them.

I hope so. Generally I've found IBM stuff fairly bulletproof. We had a lot of IBM hardware leftover from businesses that we have now sold. I literally fired up some of the servers and they booted right into windows 98 no problem. I've since upgraded them and put xp on them and they actually are back in service doing minor stuff like watching the weather for me or connecting to vnc servers. So these are going on oh, say 25 years old. And after I have finished using them, I plan to return 98 to them and making them into retro gaming machines, which they will do nicely in that role. :D
