I have an IBM EGA Card that apparently has some kind of memory fault, I'm wondering if there is anyone one here who is skilled enough whom I could hire for a reasonable rate to troubleshoot and repair said card?

I presume that this request is a follow-on from thread: http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?23310

If so, and you haven't done any further diagnosis, then your "apparently" should be interpreted by potential repairers as "may". By "further diagnosis", I mean things such as, running of 'Enhanced Graphics Adapter' test in the IBM AT Advanced Diagnostic disk, and seeing if the card still beeps if the card is the ONLY card in your IBM 5170.

I'm in Australia and so two-way post would make the repair uneconomical.

Well, I have a total of three of them now, two with memory problems that I bought off a member here and one I got in a 5170 that has no Intensity signal output. I should probably fix the last one first so I have a known good reference board.

If you want to add your card to the pile, I'll take a look at it.

Finding the memory chips shouldn't be too difficult since I don't recall them being anything special.

You just might have to wait a while for it to get repaired because I have to concentrate of the Legacy stuff.

I do from prior diagnostic testing, that it is a memory fault with the board, but I don't remember what chip. If you Druid6900 want to PM me your shipping information I will get the board to you, also let me know what you'd like for compensation for repairing the board. I don't expect anything for nothing, especially not to get such a rare card working. :)

First off Druid I am not trying to steal your business but I am offering an alternative to Lyonadmiral.

Hey Lyon, Is your board the bare 64k version? If so I have one I am not using. What I can do is send you my good one for a price you can PM me about. You send me your bad one. I will remove all the memory chips (there's only 8 4416's) socket them replace with known good chips and keep your board. Sound like a deal. Sorry I didn't notice this post sooner.
