Does anyone know what the IBM Guide to Operations book looks like for an XT? Is there any way to tell the difference from the other guides from the cover?

I think that all the early PC, XT, AT, Jr guides all had the same book cover. Details would be inside the document version page.

I noticed there is also a version for xt-286. I bought one on ebay, hope its the right one.

They didn't have much information at all, prolly doenst even have the disk.

My XT GTO says the following on the binder :

Guide to Operations
Personal Computer XT

So its possible they used different binders based on supply.

Which one? If it's the 5155 that's equal to the 5160 (the XT), except for a few minor details. The 5155 is harder to find anyway, so I am sure anyone here myself included would be happy to trade you a "regular" XT version for the portable version and pay your shipping... ;-)

Yes, I would be able, and want to do, that as well...

It appears to be for a 5155, at least the drawing in the book looks like it.

The manual says
:the ibm portable personal computer is a portable member of the IBM personal computer family. It consists of a case that has a built-in 9-inch display, one IBM personal computer slimline diskette drive, a system board, and a keyboard."

"the system board has an Intel 8088 processor and 256k of Availible memory."

There is a hand written serial in it, 0110739.

It appears to be First Edition (january 1984)

I would be willing to trade for a XT manual.

It appears to be in good condition, but is missing the sleeve to put it in.

Here is a pic from the auction.

Does anyone have an S9000 manual (or the system)? This is the scientific / lab version of the XT with a built-in printer. One of my holy grails to find.

Since you posted first, I would have traded you, but IBMMuseum I am willing to trade if you are.

You are in the states, right?

Most Americans seem to think so (inside joke about my state). Several years ago I had an eBay seller in California want me to pay "Customs" for shipping an item. I promptly explained I was probably further North than he was.

PM, with contact information, will be sent (and earlier question answered) shortly...
