Not sure where you would place the MDS-80 in architecture, but yesterday I saw the manager of the local landfill recycling service wheeling a trolley along loaded with the three main parts of a MDS-80 - PSU, 2x8" FDD, and main unit with a bank of interrupt keys.
I've never seen one before but know this is a pretty significant machine historically, so my hair stood on end wondering where it was going. I had a strong impulse to hurry over and make an offer, but I didn't, for two reasons. First, it's just a bit too far outside my competence and would take a lot of time to assemble software and learn it. This is one for experienced veterans. Second, the manager was already on the phone to [sinister] SOMEONE [/sinister] talking about it. Now I know why I never see anything worth collecting at the recycle centre any more - [sinister]SOMEONE[/sinister] has the place tied up.
