That would figure--are Intel's severs cheaper or better than any of the other stuff on the market? Back in the day, Intel had a division that made add-on memory for System/370 boxes. Then there was bubble memory...

Intel knows pretty well what its core business is.

The Server division only sold outside the US. I have not seen the current Intel server line but the older ones were very reliable. Intel will still have to produce reference server designs so the reduction in development costs may not be that significant.

I have a small business oriented Intel Server 2x Xeon 604, solid as a rock, heavier and more reliably than my Dell Poweredge 2900. Such a nice machine.

Mitac have been around for decades. I bought a desktop case to fit my AMD K6-2 400 innards in.
