I am trying to construct a new battery pack for an NEC Multispeed laptop. I opened the existing battery pack so I could figure out how the batteries are arranged, it's just 8 Ni-Cd R14s in series which I figured. However, I forgot about what appears to be a temp sensor or something. I was also shocked and impressed to find an inline fuse.
So does anybody know what this metal barb is? Should I be able to cut it off the existing pack and reuse it?
Also, while I'm showing off this thing's guts, Anybody know the exact type of connector this is? I was going to cut it remove the pins and just reuse the connector.
Funny story, I rebuilt this battery pack about 25 years ago. You can see I simply sliced up the cardboard and everything. I held the connectors on the ends with just pressure, no solder, no tac welding and it worked. I was in highschool at the time. I thought this time, I should probably rebuild it correctly. I had forgotten about the "extras" that were in the pack.
