Neat hack instrument from Jeri (ok a year or two old now). I happened to not have seen it before so new to me and thought I'd share the old news ;-) Not sure if it could be done with the actual c64 itself (this looks like custom circuitry on the sid just mounted inside a c64 case). Still.. I'm surprised I haven't seen this whipped out at any of those retro music/chiptune tribute bands.

I actually got to meet Jeri at the NY Maker Faire last September. She was very down-to-earth, talking about the CastAR and demo'ing it. Sadly, I forgot to talk to her about the C64 recreation game or anything retro oriented.

There was a joke ad in BYte magazine in the '80's of a guy with an Apple ][ with a guitar neck on it. It said he was Bill Flicka of The Broken Rubber Band...

As Jeri admitted, her FPGA-based Keytar has burned itself out. AFAIK, she has not rebuilt it.

About 10-12 years ago, Jeri Ellsworth attached a guitar neck and a guitar strap to a brown C64. She gave it as a gift to Seth Sternberger of the band, 8-Bit Weapon.
