Selling this Juki 6100 daisy wheel printer as 'not working'. I bought as the 6100 model is very well documented. There's an easily found (online PDF's) detailed/long technical manual and a user manual. No paper manual, CD's or cables are supplied with this printer. I am however including a brand spanking new grey, hinged, pop-up perspex cover. Not a single scratch on it and bought as new old stock after receiving the printer.
I bought a Fuji (clone) tape cartridge in advance. Alas, it turned out to be old and dry (I got a refund) and started off by not depositing any ink at all. You could however read the hard impacts from the daisy wheel when holding the paper up to light. After a few pages the ink became a lot more visible. Bottom line: consider the cartridge as a tester only. You'll need a new one.
Know that the foam sound absorption it's lined with is old and fragile. If anything like my previous experiences with old foam, it'll really require replacing before it starts to disintegrate and crumble. The online technical manual tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about a complete dismantle.
There is a ring of thin clear sellotape that you can hardly see in the pics. It runs around the circumference where the two different coloured clam shell halves join. I haven't removed this so have no idea as to whether it's holding the two halves together, or just put there as extra protection. The only reason for selling this Juki is due to my discovering just days later an even better and very, very rare model Juki 6300. Know that daisy wheels are heavy, noisy and complicated mechanical/electronic devices. I can't take the risk of selling as 'working', due to the vintage age of it.
See the last pic of the test print once it hit the fresher tape section. As mentioned the tape is dried up, but the characters appear to get stronger/bolder as more tape is pulled through. So far just a fraction has actually been used, so plenty more to unwind.
Only ten pics allowed here, but I have a few more of the sides, knobs I can send if required. Give me a day to add a picture of the brand new smoked perspex cover.
Selling for £35 with local pickup from South Croydon. If you want it posted via Parcelforce, that'll be an extra £18. The box to send it via Parcelforce is massive (not the original), so would be very well protected. Weight is heavy!
