Kaypro: disks, technical documentation, even a keyboard - Free (maybe shipping fees)
Getting rid of old basement archives...
The following is available "free" (in Montreal) or for the shipping fees:
- all original diskettes for the Kaypro II (Kaypro 2)
- boot disk for Kaypro 4
- softwares (i purchased the license, so I will transfer the disks to one person, not many)
- some disks with free software from Micro-Cornucopia
- "Kaypro 2 & 4 Theory of Operation" (includes schematics), from Micro-Cornucopia
- modem cable and null modem cables
- modem with RS-232 interface (1200 baud)
- keyboard for Kaypro 2 or 4 (no case).
Ask here or by email for details, if you are interested.
(Cross-posted to For Sale and CP/M forums)

I would like the Kaypro 2 disks and the theory of operation book, and I will gladly pay the shipping costs.

Hi,

I've received 3 PM so far and there is one reply above in this CP/M thread.

Geographically, the (4) people interested are spread this way:
- Texas : 2
- NY : 1
- Toronto : 1

I'm a in pinch to distribute what I have in a way that is fair for all.
Perhaps the two gentlemen from Texas can arrange to meet and share what I can send to one of the two?

Sending only papers and diskettes will be cheaper than shipping the keyboard or cables.

The gentleman from NY was specific about Kaypro 2 disks and docs.

* Please you say if you want to get Kaypro 2 or 4 disks and docs.
(a boot disk is specific to a model, the 2 or the 4)

I do not have access to a Kaypro machine, so I cannot copy the disks.

There are two (2) copies of the "Kaypro 2 & 4 Theory of Operation" (includes schematics):
- one for the Kaypro 2
- one for the Kaypro 4
:) cool

Some disks are Free software from KUG or Micro-C and could be copied without legal headaches.

Does any one has suggestions on how to proceed?
basically, you could tell me if you need hardware information & boot disk.
or if you already have a working Kaypro, you only want more software.

I have the disks and users manuals for (2) programming languages:
- Software Toolworks C/80
- Janus/Ada 1.4.5 and 1.5

I have found C/80 online on this page:
http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/lang/lang.htm
in file c80v31.zip
The documentation (PDF) is on this web page:
http://heathkit.garlanger.com/library/TheSoftwareToolworks/software/C80.shtml

Same for Janus/Ada:
JANADA14.ZIP on the same web page:
http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/lang/lang.htm
(i did not find the documentation online).

Does that make those programming language diskettes less useful?

JF,
I have a working Kaypro 2, although I haven't run it since I got it, as I have no diskettes for it. I'm not interested in the Kaypro 4 stuff. I definitely want the boot diskettes. I'm a software engineer by trade, so I would be interested in the programming languages.
Thanks,
Kipp

Theory of operation / schematics is a "biggie" for anyone serious about Kaypros.

Microcornucopia corrected even errors in Kaypro info !

Go for it. Best of luck to all !

These kind of break thru opportunities can help to keep our hobby vibrant and progressing.

OK, there are already 5-6 folks interested.
Anyway one hoping on the train now (or later) will need to make arrangement with one of the previous folks :)
I will not have enough disks or copies to please everyone, and, don't have enough time to try sending something to too many people (assuming everyone is willing to pay mailing costs).

For those who have not told me precisely yet, if you want anything, then please tell me exactly:
1. Which model of Kaypro? Kaypro II (original) or Kaypro 4? (I do not have any boot disk for the 2x or 10 models).
2. What disk(s) do you want?
a) boot disk [y/n]?
b) common software included with the Kaypro II
NOTE: The required tools (ImageDisk, Teledisk) and a lot of CP/M softwares and the Kaypro disks can be found there:
http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img/index.htm
http://www.classiccmp.org/dunfield/img63549/system.htm
c) programming languages: C, TurboPascal, or another, which ones.
NOTE: Many CP/M programming languages are available on-line:
http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/lang/lang.htm
Please only ask for a programming language if you really program using that language.
Otherwise, you can download from the web and take the time to create the diskette(s) from the disk images.
d) communication programs: "modem" programs to connect in terminal emulation mode and transfer files.
Examples: MEX, Modem7
e) extra software
3. Do you want me to send the parcel to you with or without guaranteed delivery?

Most, I have Kaypro 4 disks (DSDD).
Some languages are on single-sided disks (Kaypro II).

I cannot make precise promises about what I can send.
I'll try to be fair.
If your needs are precise and not too demanding, it will be easier. :)

I wish everyone a lot of fun!
Myself, I had a lot of fun with a Kaypro 4, creating custom messaging applications, aka "BBS", in the late 80s.

From the absence of feedback, I am about to conclude that old diskettes sent by snail mail are not interesting.
And that the links to web pages with archives of Kaypro disk images and to CP/M softwares are more convenient. :)

I still have copies of the "Kaypro II Theory of Operation" and "Kaypro 84 Theorry of Operation" from Micro-Cornucopia.

Anyone who want one should PM me with his/her snail mail address.

Once they are gone, they will gone.
