Keep Vintage Computer acquisition "dirty"?

I keep bringing this up, but no one so much as comments. I placed a warm ceramic coffee mug on top of a Tandy 2000 once. It was yellowed. It left an egg-shell whitish ring! Anyone care to delve into the chemistry/physics of that??? Figure if you had a big enough coffee mug w/an electric heating appurtenance, who needs Retrobrite!!

Was it because of the steam (warmth and moisture)?

Here is a good example of when I think it's best to "leave as is" ... this computer was obviously loved by someone...[/url]

That is a fantastic Model III. The tough question, though: assuming you could match it exactly would it be sacrilege to repaint the palmrest where the silver paint is rubbed off?

Funny I should ask about this as I just got a vintage computer with an "ADPE Identification" sticker on it. I figured these stickers would be removed before being recycled.

I honestly don't know. I have no plans to do it, I think if I was to ever sell this I would leave as-is so I guess from a value standpoint it's more valuable left alone, given all of the other mods in place already. I think it's not worth much either way, this would be a model III lovers' machine, not a collectors' machine.
