I realize this is an old post but is this what you were/are looking for?Hi,
I'm looking for a Kennedy 9219 formatter for a Kennedy 9000 transport that I'm fixing-up... the transport looks like this:

Anyone have anything?

Close! That's the Tape Drive Exerciser for the 9000-series tape transport and it would actually be really handy in getting this drive running again.I realize this is an old post but is this what you were/are looking for?
Yes, I'd be willing to sell it, I like having it in my collection but I would rather it be used for it it's intended purpose if possible. I don't have a way of testing it but looking over it inside and out I don't see anything wrong with it except for damage to the "BLOCK/CONT" switch but I could replace it with another switch that would work though not necessarily an exact match.Close! Are you interested in selling it?

Just added a bunch of photos, see my previous post.I have a pair of Kennedy 9000 units just like yours. I also have a 9219 formatter I found on US eBay a few years ago, and imported it. I know that doesn't help you much but if you want any photos I am happy to take some.
I'm very envious of that TB9219 exerciser, I would really like to see more photos of the innards. I suppose it couldn't be too difficult to recreate but the good thing about the 9000 drives themselves is they have a number of buttons to do basic tape exercising anyway.

Take a look at the photos and if you need any more lmk. It's kind of crazy that the board is wire wrapped, seems like maybe it's designed to allow for customized boards to be swapped in and out?
Not sure how we should proceed, I'd rather not talk about the details of a possible transaction publicly like this so maybe we can switch to email? Not sure what the rules of the forum dictate as far as buying and selling among members.
Thanks,
Alan
Thanks for the offer -- I really like the look and the design of these drives, they appear to be really well built and engineered. Well, if you ever need to re-home the 9219 formatter and/or perhaps one of the drives, let me knowI have a pair of Kennedy 9000 units just like yours. @Wildfire That would be fantastic if you happen to have a 9219 formatter! It's a rack-mount box that looks about 2RU in size based in the very few photos that I've been able to find in the manuals:Chris,
atm i dunno if i am able to eventually help you.
Years ago i did rescue some Kennedy parts and what i actually don't know is if the drive is an 9000 or an 9100.
All is in storage now, and it may take some time to look what i have.
Do you know if the formatter is an external unit or something what is added to the drive ?
Best regards,
Kai
@1944GPW Thanks for the photos! This is the first time that I've actually seen photos of a 9219 itself. I guess the next hurdle (after finding a 9219 formatter) is to find an appropriate cable on it with a connect that would mate to J101, that looks like a large card-edge style connector as far as I can see. Here's the Kennedy 9219 formatter racked directly underneath a 9000 tape unit in an H960. Physically the formatter is a 19" rack-mount 2RU high yellow passivated metal box.
It contains three boards sliding in from the front as shown. The brochure shows a cover plate which I don't have, I haven't made one up yet. There is a fan on the right (power supply) side.
The formatter and drive are fixed with my own H960 rack-mount screws I make from modern rack-mount ones using a small jig. Also my own H960 feet (3D printed fascia covers are not installed here).
If you need to replace the tape hub rubber rings then just buy a pair of BS336 standard black nitrile O-rings from any engineering bearings shop, they are very cheap.
