I would like to read (and later alter) the contents of the command byte. However, I have so far not been successful. I am using instructions provided here:

When I follow the instructions, I get 1C, which as far as I can tell is the content of the status register, and not the command byte.
I am trying to do this in DEBUG using MASM commands. Anyone know what to do?
