I purchased a 128EX/2 awhile ago and recently checked it out. Taking a look at it, it doesn't fully work but I don't think it's that far off either. When it powers up, you get a beep, the ROM POST banner, and it accesses the drive. Then it usually fills the screen with a consistent character pattern (alternating rows of flashing ampersands and "Y"s) and locks up. Sometimes it appears to drop to the monitor but still locks up. Has anyone seen this or similar behavior before? FWIW, the ROM chip was verified, the voltages are fine and the main DRAM chips (all 6) were checked. I've pulled the aux RAM board and nothing changes. The only RAM I haven't checked is the 6116 SRAM for the disk controller. Thanks for any insights.
