LED shortfall from a giant electronics supply house, is that possible?

Can someone very familiar with LEDs and orders from Mouser Electronics tell me if there's anything remotely special about this 5mm green LED?:
https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/941-C566DGFFCY0Z0791

It seems like a jellybean component to me? I picked it off the top (or near top) of a list of such devices on Mouser on the 13th of May, as part of a Tauntek IC Tester components project list order.

Apparently there is a 7-week wait for these $0.39-value LEDs, but as a first-time Mouser customer I'm not sure how my order was processed (and I paid for it) to have it then say it's on back-order till the end of June, after which my order might be shipped.
The system did not suggest a substitute nor can I see anything on the Order page to allow me to change that after payment?

If I could drop those (I have plenty in my spares anyway), maybe my order won't take another month. I'm unlikely to ever order anything else from them at this rate.

I can't look at the Australian Mouser site, but if you're looking for standard T1 3/4 (5mm) through hole LEDs, Mouser has thousands of them.

The 7 week wait you speak of is for that specific LED from a specific manufacturer, Cree. Don't use the "find similar" menu at the bottom of the page, because it almost never works right. The reason it's not working in your case, is because it's trying to find LEDs from that specific manufacturer (Cree) and Mouser has no stock from that manufacturer.

You need to backtrack into the product category of through hole LEDs if you want to find LEDs from other manufacturers.

Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate it. I thought I might have picked some crazy non-standard wavelength of green light, as Cree is a well-known LED manufacturer and they'd be able to supply any demand.
So I'll just wait for another month, not much I can do about it I suppose. Thanks again.

As you have discovered, Mouser will let you buy anything that isn't EOL, even if it isn't in stock. So you need to pay attention to the stock level and factory lead time if it's not in stock.

One of the few things I dislike about Mouser is that you can't change or cancel your order online. But I'm sure if you call or email, you can get the leds removed and have the order shipped.

Their support is good and sometimes being able to put something hard to get on backorder is quite a benefit. I picked up some microcontrollers I needed a year ago by doing that when they were very hard to get. Eventually they got and then I got!

There is a wide variation in LED technology - from older chemistries that will happily consume 20mA and provide a small amount of visible light to newer ones that are super bright on 1mA.

If you need a 527nm LED, there are other models:

It has a clear lens vs the green dyed lens on your original choice. It's also 50x brighter, if you want to burn your eyeballs out, otherwise use a higher value resistor.
