"Lisa Selling Guide"

Hi Lisaphiles,

I have devised a new strategy to be able to find out what it's like to use a Lisa while saving hundreds of dollars. I bought a thin Apple publication called the "Lisa Selling Guide". It explains to Apple sales staff why Lisa is the better option.

They kinda lost me, though, when they said a Lisa was better than an IBM PC XT running 1-2-3 because there would be no disk swapping with the Lisa. The application being easier to learn was valid, though.

I paid three decades for the book and I expect I'll never be able to justify $1000 for a working Lisa which is good because I'll probably never have the money anyway.

Heyya Chuck,

Better than three decades is the better part of an "L" note. More than thirty dollars. I was a little bit embarassed that I'd spent more than three dollars a page. But I _saved_ hundreds on not buying a Lisa

We need a Lisa Selling Guide which patiently explains to eBay sellers the difference between a Lisa 1 and a Lisa 2.

I'm a little confused too. Does a Lisa 1 who's owner opted for the upgrade kit still count as a 1, or has it been completely, miraculously transformed...like the host at communion, which, while appearing to consist of bread and wine, are actually some kinda indigestible wafer and cheap grape juice?

Yeah, I was going to say you could get a Lisa 2 for somewhere around $400-$600 last time I looked. Lisa 1's go for more but are much more seldom.

Still, I understand the pain of those hard to reach systems. I've said it before, but I have a few on my wish list that seem to inflate consistently to my income.

that's because the lisa would serialize a disk to the lisa so if your lisa serial was 83EF8 and you tried to use the disk serialized to another lisa serialized 45GG0, it would not work. Keep in mind that lisa serial numbers were much more complex then the example i gave.

I'd have though that by "disk swapping" they meant the physical changing of disks whilst the program was running. Whether the advantage was due to having more disk drives, larger capacity disks or simply more memory in which to store the program, I don't know.
