I have an opportunity to get one for what seems like a reasonable price. When I search for it on Google I get nearly nothing on it. No user manual. No reviews. No mentions on forums.

I thought NEC monitors were fairly popular in the 80s and 90s and had a very good reputation. In fact, I used to have a Multisync II in the late 80s and upgraded to a 3FGe in the 90s.

What’s the scoop on the C500? Anything interesting about it or is it “just a monitor”?

Thanks!

I just found this thread looking for more info myself. I had one with my NEC Ready 9620. Just in case anyone else searches in the future, the C500 was mostly sold in 1996-1997 as an entry level 15" option for the NEC Ready line, usually for $325-$425. They were sometimes advertised as a JC-15W1VMA. It was SVGA with .28mm dot pitch, 13.8" viewable display, and the usual tilt/swivel base. Some listings say it could reach 1280x1024 @ 60Hz but I only recall 1024x768. These are seemingly the only photos of one on the internet, and here's an ad that ran in multiple Australian papers in December of 1997:
