Looking for SW for TOP3000 Programmer

My employer gave me this and I'm looking for (virus-free) software & documentation for it (they no longer had it). Preferably a Win9X/XP version. It also seems to have a power jack...and from what I've read it may or may not need external power when running from USB. Any info appreciated.

How do you test ram chips on the Top3000? No matter what I do it seems to fail. I'm currently looking at some IMC1635P-35 chips which I believe are 6264 chips. I'm selecting this in Topall8 and checking the test box and clicking GO. It writes and verifies during the process but the verify fails...

The thread contains other discussions, be careful as many versions trigger anti-virus like you noted.

I use a top3000 all the time; once you get it working it's quite versatile and having enough pins to do 42 pin eproms without an adapter is very nice.

Thanks. I downloaded it onto my phone and I'll send it to my WinXP machine. I didn't see anything about the power adapter in the English manual (maybe skipped over it). Is one needed?

Generally not. Honestly using a good USB A-B cable I have been fine but YMMV with your computer.

The only time I had any difference in result was programming PAL/GAL, some seemed happier with or without the supplemental power adapter. It has never affected EPROM programming for me.

This version is probably too new. I think I used 6.x on XP? The machine I had it on died

But I can say this version has been solid on Win 7.

Nope. Goes through installation process and just before concluding, reports an error and undoes the install.

T-R-A, which version of XP are you running, SP3 or earlier? Can you post a screen capture of the error message you get?
