So I am trying to run Might & Magic the first game for the Apple II on an Apple IIe Platinum. I have tried 2 versions. Both get to the into screen and stay there with the disk accessing forever. This cant be an Apple II/IIplus only game as its from 1986 I think. What gives? Why cant this game load?

So I have tried my duodisk floppy drive as well as a IIc. Also tried another Apple 5.25" floppy controller card. They all do the same thing. I have tried multiple disk images; even one from another vcfed member. They wont load. Every version of the game on the internet cant be bad (seems unlikely for a popular game). But as of right now I cannot get Might & Magic 1 or 2 to work. Which is a real shame because this game looks amazing for the apple II :

Edit: Just tried on a whole different computer. An un-enhanced Apple IIe. Same exact problem. It must be some kind of copy protection or the volume name of the disks is wrong (like with every Sierra game for the Apple II).

Have you tried pressing ESC or the spacebar? According to the manual, the spacebar advances to the next scene and the ESC skips the rest of the scenes and starts the game.

Also, have you tried the game on an Apple II emulator? If it works there, at least you know it's a working disk image(s). (Although, not necessarily one that can be used on real hardware.)

On a final note, the game is supposed to be copy protected, but only on side A. The manual recommends making and using copies of the other sides of the disks (which, obviously, aren't copy protected.)

HAH! Yeah.... I tried EVERY button on the keyboard. The game doesnt load. IT also doesnt load via my floppy emu. Funny enough I can get the disk 1 of Might & magic 2 to load via my floppy emu but I cant make an actual disk from it. I want to make actual disks.

I was able to find a copy of M&M book one to copy to floppy disk. It is the 4AM crack version. And it works fine. I cant find a cracked version of the second game. They posted a WOZ backup file to Archive.org of the second game but I dont use emulators and my floppy emu cannot use woz files. If anyone has a disk image of the first disk of M&M II that is cracked or cant boot from floppy disk let me know.

Half way there!
