Once again I am on the move. 3rd time in less than 5 years. This time to the Boulder area.
Any DEC people from that area? Wish someone close to me here could take some cables and
stuff I have. The less I pack the better. No I am not getting rid of my 11/84 nor RA92.

Cables are SMD type (big and small connector). And some Omnibus to early pdp-8 interface
cables. I bought for connecting a TC08 to an 8e. Free to anyone. You have to come get
them though.

Two boxes of paper tape too (high speed version).

Hi All;

Tim Radde, If You would be so Kind, as to Bring the two boxes of Paper Tapes, I would be Interested in them..
Maybe, depending on Your Time Schedule, You Could Help me Fix my PDP 11/40 and my PDP 11/45, If nothing else Moral Support..
What machines and Boards Do you have that I could help You fix, or at least give moral support for ??
And Yes, by the Way, WELCOME to Boulder !!! When are You Moving ??

THANK YOU Marty

Marty,
I will bring the two boxes of paper tape as they don't take up much space. I am trying to minimize
what I have to move. My only machine is an 11/84 connected via a UDA50 to an RA92, and
a UC17 to various SCSI devices. It currently boots BSD Unix 2.11. I plan to use the SCSI2SD
to be able to boot Unix and RSTS-11. I am not sure what use I would be on an 11/40 or 11/45
as I've never worked with either. Never even seen either up in person. Moral support sure.
I will do what I can for you with the 11/40 and 11/45. I will be moving mid Sept at least
that is the plan right now.

Hi Tim;
Thank You for Your Prompt Reply.. Be sure to let me know when You get into town, possibly I can be of some help..

THANK YOU Marty

I cannot even contemplate what such a move would mean, were it me. The prospect is exhausting - it's one of the aspects of this kind of collecting that is ponderous. While the idea of not being able to take it all would be heartbreaking, sharing items with friends and those who would appreciate and care for them would take the sting out somewhat.

Good luck in the move... any chance it will be your last? (for a while at least)

I have fond memories of Boulder from my couple years at UC, back when the Sink and Tulagi's were rock'n'roll 3.2 beer bars :)

I serviced PDP-11 systems for CDC out of Denver for a few years in the 70's-80's, there were a lot of DEC systems in the area. Lots of tech around the Boulder area.

I'm in Boulder.

Just got my 11/73 up and running this week with 2.11BSD after a hiatus of a couple of years. Was stymied a bit by the etched marking on the MSV11-QA board that says it is a 4 MB board, but the -QA is only 1 MB. Once I verified the RAM chip type (64Kbit) and the jumpers for chip size selection matched that, I set the address limit switches appropriately and it started behaving. Apparently DEC used the one board for 1, 2 and 4 MB variants with just a different module part number marking (M7551AC in this case).

HI All;
Cruff, I Didn't know that there was Anyone living in Boulder from the group, What a surprise..
What DEC stuff do You have ??

THANK YOU Marty

I've got a sampling of most of the "major" DEC architectures. A modern Spare Time Gizmos SBC6120+FP6120 PDP 8 clone kit running OS/8, a PDP 11/73 with 2.11BSD, a VAXstation 4000/60 with VMS 7.3, and an Alpha AXPpci33 I built when Alpha was new with RedHat 7 and NetBSD.

Here are some pictures of the SB6120 in a case I made from walnut to hold it.

I'm not sure where we're moving - we'll probably stay in the Chicago area - but it's still the same pain of trying to make stuff disappear and then reappear somewhere else. Right now, I've got stacks of boxes and no idea where various things are. No fun.

It's very tiring. Moving sucks. I'd rather see
stuff go to people who will use it. Hate throwing stuff away.

I have arrived safely in Boulder after a very long drive. Now looking for a place to stay. Wish me luck.
