My first computer was a Tandy 1000 SX which my dad set up for the family. I was probably 5 at the time. I'm told we had a Commodore 64 before that, but I don't remember it, and my dad sold it in part to buy the Tandy. This was the first computer I learned Basic on and lit my interest in the possibility that I could make a computer do things that it wasn't intended to do.
My family still has the Tandy with its monitor and an external 10MB HDD along with the printer stashed in their basement. I kept it alive until around 1997 or 98, long after we quit really using it. The last time I visually saw it was around 2001 when I pulled it out and compared it to a 1000EX I found at a yard sale for $10. That one came with a monocrome monitor and an internal HDD.
Currently I'm finally finishing my bachelors degree which I should have done 15 years ago. My family is moving after I graduate, not sure where to yet, but I'm hoping to have a basement where I can pull out these computers and restore them. I Recently bought a Commodore 64 which only has a power cable and RF cable. So I don't have any software for it, but it does boot. When the person gave me the price, I couldn't resist. (L&Y Electronics in Woodbridge, VA)
After I told somebody at my church about it, they gave me a TRS-80 Model 100 with a portable floppy drive they had sitting around. (Thought I would enjoy it and take care of it.)
I'm not trying to get a huge collection. I'm honestly more into how it works and trying to find unintended purposes for them rather than play games. I'm a hacker by trade. (White hat.)
I really want a work bench to spread out on, and time to fiddle. Taking things apart and fixing them is really more interesting to me then using them. If I could only find a job doing that, I'd probably be a lot happier. (Anybody know anything in the DC area, hit me up.)

I'd like to restore my old Tandy back to the way I remember using it. I'd also like to mod out the other Tandy with all the newest hacks and aftermarket parts. But we'll see what happens.

I also have a 486 66DX, and an AMD K6-2 350 that are sitting in my garage. Those are the systems I really played games on.
