nascom 1 value

Hello everyone,

I can buy a nascom 1 including keyboard.
It's not known is the computer is still working.

Can anybody tell me a normal price for such a computer?

Neither of you have a ballpark? SBCs vary in price and I'm not familiar with that one specifically. Usually you're looking at somewhere between $100-300 depending on the system but that's just for the semi-common ones I see come up. Kim-1 can go a little higher but that I think is due to the reknown history and name.

The ones I have seen on ebay sell for about £100, although a few days ago, a Nascom 2 with 2 AVC cards sold for £185 which I thought was a steal.
The price depends on how many people want it at the time, if this is a private sale you could offer £70 since you do not know if it works or not.
 
An original Nascom 1 has only 2KB of RAM! :) (well, that's no worse than the later zx81, come to think about it. Didn't it have just 1KB?). I think the Nascom 2 was easier to extend, but I've never handled a -2. I have my 1977 Nascom 1 kit still though. It's not even assembled (didn't have a power supply available and suddenly it was obsolete before I got around to put the chips into sockets, which is all the assembly required).

Well, it's been extended in some way.. I see a lot of wirewrap, presumably that has to do with those extra boards there, and there seems to be a couple of LEDs at the front panel.

The Nascom 1 came as just a keyboard w/cable, and the motherboard, so the box for the motherboard and the box for the keyboard must be something the original owner put together. And the PSU of course.

Well I've arranged a price of 40 Euro including shipment.
So when it is here I will post some better pictures of it.

I'm curious, will it ever work? I think it's better to make the
board original again. But first figure out what is was...

Yes it seems to have some modifications.
It seems also the nas-rom eprom is missing.

And the MCM6576 character IC is missing.
Does anyone know where I can get such an IC?

I don't have it yet but it will come in a few days.
I'd compare the seller pics with the doc.
It seems to have the original nascom power supply.

As far as I know there never was an original Nascom 1 power supply.. that was one of the problems with acquiring the kit, that you had to somehow cobble something together yourself. Mine certainly didn't come with one, and I don't recall any as an optional item either - I'm sure I would have included that in my purchase if that had been an option.

It seems I was too early when I bought my kit - there was no PSU, they must have added them later. I'm pretty sure that I didn't just skip a PSU option due to cost or something, because a bunch of us bought the kit at the same time and none of the other guys (with more money than I had) got a kit with a PSU.
I wish I hadn't thrown away all my old Personal Computer World magazines years ago, I had all the mags from no. 1 and obviously they were full of Nascom ads, that would have sorted out any errors in my memory for sure.

Here are some pics from the computer...

I'm really curious, the nas-sys eprom and
the character IC are missing. Maybe the
tty output was used for a display.

But the only eprom is in the 400-7FF socket.
The 0-3FF socket is empty?
