NEC MultiSync FE1250+ monitor stand removal?

I have this gigantic 21" NEC monitor that appears to use the exact same stand as the 15" variant. It feels unstable and is too big to move around on the stand for any kind of positioning. I have a much bigger, tougher universal stand, but I cannot get the included stand off the NEC. Anyone else have one of these and can recomend any tricks?

There is one on ebay with a broken stand. It looks like there are two screws that need to come out, which can be accessed if you turn the base and align the holes. Then pull the tabs and slide it back.

Thats interesting, its a 1250+ but looks completely different from mine. Different front and different geometry. Base looks identical though, gonna go look for those screws in a minute.

So my base proved to be completely different BUT I found a screw I hadn't seen before and after much kagiggering managed to get the old base off. Its now sitting on the stand I had saved for it. I need to get creative about securing it non destructively but for now I feel like its just as stable sitting on the new base as before. Plus its tucked back in a corner so reasonably safe.

3M VHB tape should do the trick. Just don't use too much or you will never get it off...
