I recently picked up a Sharp 19SV111 NES TV and of course, it's missing the remote. Does anyone know of a replacement (programmable) model that will work with this TV? Simple on/off, channel and volume would be sufficient.

Thanks...Win

I have an old Sharp TV and have used the Jolly4 remote on it and it works fine. I bought a number of these remotes and they have worked on NEC and Sony TV's and some unknown brand set-top-box. They list thousands of brands they will work on and are quite easy to setup, just follow the instructions - took me about 3 minutes. The best thing, they are dirt cheap, at least here in Aus. Note that the picture in this link is different to the actual units I have (bought from the link) are a much nicer shape and look. They can control up to 4 different devices with the 1 unit, you just press one of the 4 buttons up top and it can control you TV, PVR/VCR, Sat, etc. I'd have to say it's one of the best remotes I've used and I've had several of these for years on various devices. Only ever had one problem with them where it locked up one day, took the batteries out for 10 min and it was fine again. http://au.element14.com/gbs-elettronica/1897/remote-control-jolly-4-universal/dp/1304567

Thanks for the replies...helpful. Getting close to the sweet spot and definitely possible options. The Harmony may be a bit more than I want to spend, especially since this thing will literally be delegated to this one TV/NES. The Jolly 4 looks good but does not seem to be widely available in the US. I saw one on eBay but it ships from Greece. Anyone know of an inexpensive model that is widely available in the US?

Thanks...Win

Well Farnell (Newark in the States) has this one for about $10 US, but I have never used it. Doesn't look quite as nice as the Jolly I have, but something to keep the kids happy or whatever.

If you can't get one there and want one of the Jolly 4 ones, I could send you one over and you could do a transfer into my account or whatever. It looks like airmail would be about $14.10 AUD (currently about $12 USD), registered would be $21.10 AUD (about $18 USD).

d00d.. throw some vintage at it Palm Universal Remote app ;-) (ok, no actual idea if it has the codes already somewhere but I figure there's a good chance you have a Palm laying around already so it may be a cheap free solution to play with). Plus you know you'll feel good getting some other retro gear out and about.
