I know it's not quite old enough for the "Vintage" label but is anyone here mucking about with any NetFrame equipment?

I've got a 9000-16 unit getting ready to come out of storage with the intent to replace my aging but getting senile LM4d/66 HP Netserver. I also have access to the folks who used to do the helpdesk support for PLUS I work for the wonderful company that bought up all of the NetFrame spares when they were bought out by Micron. Unfortunatly the FE's (field engineers) don't speak to the likes of us in CCS (call center services) so I don't think I'm going to get cut any deals on parts. I guess I'll keep that in mind the next time one of these geniuses calls in for support on thier Treo300 that they snapped the lid off of and can't figure out why it won't shut off.

The plan is to toss NT 4.0 workstation on it and attach it to a Proliant scsi enclosure I have laying around. I've already heard the horror stories from some of the guys at work about trying to get linux (any flavor) on it.
I might get daring and try Plan9 up and running on it.

Anyone here have any experiance with this unit?

linux works fine once you get rid of the unsupported hardware.

qlogic diff cards, intel pro 100 s, the other issue is getting smp working, this is due to the issue affecting all Pent Pro systems.

I have had a few variants loaded. One was FreeBSD.

I used to work for Micron in the server engineering area. I have loaded and experimented with many NF systems and operating systems.

Sweet machines!!!!
