NPR series Mixtape includes "How the casette created the Internet" via packet radio
NPR series Radiolab has a new special miniseries called Mixtape which includes "How the cassette created the Internet"
My sister and her husband listen to NPR a lot, and yesterday at Thanksgiving she informed me of this new miniseries on NPR called Mixtape. At least one episode, "Cassetternet," tells "how the cassette created the Internet" which covers packet radio (sending files via broadcast over radio audio). Another episode, "Dakou," tells how unsold American rock music tapes were bought as part of trash loads by China and how Chinese people restoring the tapes (behind the iron curtain) brought rock music to China.
