Hey everyone,

I'm going to turn a NuTone 2071 Stereo Intercom that lived in my grandparents wall from 1966-2019 into a stereo system. The master unit itself needs service, and I'm going to send it to Northside Service Company.

However, I have a question about the wires supplying 20V out of the transformer. The service manual says for bench testing, you should use 3-conductor wire at 6 feet long (photo attached), but when it was in the wall, the length of the wire was (and still is) ~8 inches (excluding the plug. Would there be any problem using the existing wire with a 120V appliance cord, even though the wires going from the transformer to the intercom aren't 6 feet?
