OkiMate 10 printer

I've got this brand new OkiMate 10 printer and it has a 6-pin DIN connector and needs what it calls a "plug'n'print' adapter to work. Is there a way to use this a as serial port printer?? How can I get this thing to print without spending a bundle on it(found the adapter for DOS for $69!!??!! for a 16color printer??)?

That sounds like one of those printers with USB
ports. I'm suprised they can make a cable for
that under DOS (unless, of course it plugs into
the parallel port to the USB thing on the printer).

The only other suggestions I could give if that's
the case, is searching on the internet to see if
anyone if supplying the information to build the
cable yourself, however that USB connector
doesn't look anyway easy to connecting the
wires to.

No, this isn't one of those, this is an oldie. I searched around and found different versions of the plug'n'print package, and it was popular for the Amiga, Atari and Commodore. Though I wouldn't be suprised if USB wasn't the way to go. I looked at the Windows add printer command and it isn't even listed. This was odd, but then I figured there would have to be a rom of some kind in the seperate box that you had to buy. Still researching, cause it is of a compact size that I can carry around (though it's pretty heavy for its 10x2x7" size) and would work good as a basic printer for the laptop.

The url's above are a few of the things that came up from google searches, I found the thing for DOS but not really wanting to pay US$69 for the thing, wanted a way around that price. It's a neat little printer, tough little dot matrix.

Oh okay. I have seen some computers which go way back
in the 80's which had their own special printers. If I correctly
recall the Amstrad PCW's had a special printer designed only
for the PCW & I only ever recall seeing a Commodore printer
(I think) with Commodore computers!

That clearly is way too high. I've seen them here in Australia
for around that sort of money. I won't blame you if you're a
bit sceptical buying stuff from overseas now, because it just
seems to be a bit more risky nowadays! :-(

I found out more about that printer since then, found a lady on eBay with an identical unit, and they were exactly the same, and she had it hooked to her old C64. She was very helpful, I asked her to take some pictures of it and take the card out and take pics of it. The numbers matched, I have a C64 printer!! I would like to get this thing to work on USB, that would be neat. As I have gotten more and more into this machine, it has fascinated me more and more. I can't wait to see a windows 'emulator' for the C=One !!

Actually, I made one huge mistake in my
comments above. The USB connector I've seen
sold are for the standard Parellel port printers,
sorry.
