Orchid Tiny Turbo 286

I got one of these off of Epay and was wondering what the 5 MHz 8 MHz
jumper do? I am guessing they set the clock for the 286. Just don't want
to set to 8 MHz and possibly dmamage the 8088. :( Also does any one
have a manual scan they could upload for this? Any and all help would
be appreciated.

Although I'm no expert, my understanding is that most 8088s will run 8MHz alright because that's the speed the majority get clocked to when the turbo button is pressed (on a typical clone system).

Or, it I suppose is possible that that jumper is intended to specify the normal frequency (it appears there were "native" 8mhz 8088s and V20s)
 
Is that possibly just that the CPU will run at 8MHz, and the jumper is provided in case you don't want the system to run too fast and mess up old software/games?

And man, why is it that I never see these things listed and then somebody gets one? :p

I have the Board running inside a IBM XT.

It works fine 99% of the time, there are minor quirks, but that si to be expected with this old stuff, other than that it works fine at 8mhz.

I also added a 8mhz 80287 to the board as well.

Heh, for that money I could just buy a 286 and spare a lot. My interests are purely for kicks, obviously I don't actually need to upgrade by CPU only. I'm still looking for one of those supposedly-Hypertec modules that go in a 386DX socket and supply a removable 486. I had one a long time ago, and the best part was changing out the 486DX-33 with a DX2-66 and having a 386 report running at 66MHz (with 486 instructions, natch.)

Yeah, I just get a kick out of those kinds of experiments, I'm not investing a lot in making myself go "Haha, look at that, it thinks it's awesome... ehh, okay."

if you search after TTEXTRA.PDF you can find a manual for the Tiny Turbo Xtra, dont know if it is the same version board , that you have ?

Oh fantastic! I have a Tiny Turbo XTra card! Now I know the proper functions, thank you :)

The XTra is a different card, it has a 10MHz 286 and some extra cache.

pc for sale. No promise it is what you looking for , but sounds like it.
