It sat at $45 until it had 24 hours to go. 13 hours left, and it's up to $127.

Yup, the original "ThinkPad", before it had a model number. With original PenPoint OS, original packaging, and nearly every original accessory (except the floppy drive - which is kind of important since the OS reinstall disks are 2.88 MB floppies.)

I was hoping to jump in and get it near the end, but it has spiked in price. Looks like only two bidders have been going back and forth.

Only $127, and you backed out already? You don't actually want it.:p

If only the seller had proclaimed that Steve Jobs had something to do with it, it would be at $12,700 by now.

Yeah, I was hoping to get a steal-of-a-deal. I suppose if I'm still awake when it's coming due, I'll take another look. I may have to sell my NeXT... or my kidney, that's less vital... to get it.

You know, posting about it here is likely NOT going to help keep the price low. That machine is CHERRY. I don't think you can wish for a machine in better, WORKING, condition.

Price will probably hit the roof in the last few seconds of the auction, Always happens to me when i see something i want.

Oh, holy crap.

So I decided I would bid up to $200. And even though I was going to hate myself for being an eBay sniper, I was going to try to "snipe" it at the last second.

With 15 seconds left, I bid $130 (one bid increment up,) really just to make sure I was properly logged in and it would take quickly. It went up to $132.50, as expected.

I typed $200 in the bid box, and was waiting until the last moment to hit "Bid". With 2 seconds left, it jumped to $2075, then to $2100. :-O

Not sure what kinds of reactions I'll be opening myself up to here, but wanted to say that the machine will be going to a member of this board. Plan to image the disks -- not clear what kind of support KyroFlux has for 2.88 drives, but I have PS/2 systems with that drive type as well as access to a KyroFlux.

Do we know if anyone has scanned in the manuals for the 2521? Happy to do so if not, as well as answer any other questions folks may have about the machine.

I don't think those floppies are copy protected so any disk imaging program would work (and an IBM PS/2 with a 2.88mb drive should do fine).

Far more budget than I had available - more power to you! I'm glad it's going to someone who will definitely appreciate it, not an "eBay flipper"
