February 27th was our last meet up (sadly i did not go), but we had a ton of people show up.

A group from Kingston came over and did a demo of live video through Commodore 128 etc.., and had a local TV station show up, did an interview and aired it that night, and then did a follow up interview with Dave Dunfield (one of the meet up members) and the clip is here:

also a little write up here:

I hope this gets more people around Ottawa to come and see what we get up to!

Thanks Terry!

I now want to get a list of the upcoming computer oriented events in Ottawa, and try and get a table for our meet up group, to as many of the inexpensive events as possible.

Some events are really cheap, like a computer garage sale that is held every few months at a church. It only costs $5.00 i think to rent a table for the day.

I think with a modest display, especially with a computer playing old games, it might attract people to our table and get some more people to come to our meet ups.

Well, I won't be making it to any of your meet-ups I guess. It turns out I'm persona non grata in Canadia these days. I was on my way to a wedding in Sarnia yesterday but Canadian Immagrations turned me back at the border. You Cannucks sure are strict. I have a felony conviction from 1975 (assault w/ intent), so they wouldn't let me in. The lady at Immigrations told me that even if I didn't have the 30+ year old conviction, they could still deny me entrance because I have a DUI conviction from 2003. Sheesh!

ever since 9/11 the border has been insane.

my friend was going to seattle from vancouver, but was stopped at the border because of a conviction for smoking a joint, nearly 20 years ago!

p.s. you are a bad ass Terry :)

I did the Kingsway show for a while promoting linux and NCF I think the cost is $20 for a small table and $40 for a bigger one. Most of the stuff there is barely old enough to be of interest. I did pick up a bunch of old video cards and made a few contacts.

Thanks Mike.

The Kinngsway one is the one i was thinking about, as i see them mentioned on ottawa.events a lot

$20.00, i wonder where i got $5.00 from?
optimistic thinking i guess :)
