Inside are four ... drink coasters? made to look like floppies.

Anyone know anything about this? It looks like it was officially-licensed by IBM, and made in 1984 or thereabouts.

Unfortunately, I looked around for any "accessories" (monitor, keyboard) but they were not to be found.

To be honest, I think it needs to go to a better home, as I'm not really into collectables myself, but I couldn't leave it there. It'd be fun to put a Raspberry Pi in and have it autoboot DOSBOX in jr/Tandy mode though.

I don't know a lot about these but I actually have two similar IBM "mini" computers that are similar in nature. I think many people have seen the mini IBM PC which was a promotional item by IBM. I had a co-worker who had one on his desk and used it for holding paper clips. I found a similar one but also later found a not-so-common IBM PS/2 that was similar in nature. The IBM PC Jr mini you have is a coaster set. I have picture attached that I found on Etsy. It did have a keyboard and an IBM PC Jr type box.

I would guess the IBM PC was a keepsake for the office, the PS/2 was a keepsake for education and the IBM PC Jr was a keepsake for the home? Below are the pictures.

Edit: I added a picture of the bottom label. These were made for IBM Canada by IDMD like the mini PCJr you have.

Thanks guys, that's really cool! That PS/2 is adorable.
Funny to think these machines were such a big deal they got swag made up about them to sell/give to people. Imagine Dell or whoever doing that now. :p
I'll keep my eye open for the PCjr keyboard, hopefully it turns up.
 
pretty ridiculously neat. If they made miniatures of all the classic vintage computers Id buy them.. and then me and old ladies with hummels would have something in common.
 
They are so cool. They remind me of the papercraft designs done by Rocky Bergen although the only thing he has done IBM so far is the IBM 5100.

I've seen the mini IBM PC a couple of times on eBay but on both occasions the sellers asking price was a bit rich for what they are so just couldn't bring myself to hit buy.
