Hi.

I have posted in these forums before about PDOS/386 for the 80386, but this is the first time I have mentioned that there is a PDOS for the IBM mainframe.

Currently I build for S/370, S/390 and z/Arch using conditional compilation. But I believe it is possible to have a single OS with some fairly minor changes that would allow it a single executable to run on everything from the S360/67 (32-bit) to z/Arch (still in effective 32-bit mode), covering AM24 and AM31 along the way. By using conditional execution in some fairly minor areas.

But I could be going on a wild goose chase.

I'm sort of pausing now after 30 years or wherever you want to start counting. It seems to me it is time to switch from science to engineering.

Any thoughts?

(University Challenge z/Arch).

I literally don't know what the current status is - starting with whether it is Turing complete - which is why I said it is unclear whether you can fight your way out of your predicament.

Thanks. Paul.

Wow...

Are you SHURE this is 2023?

I'll let you know next time I do an ebay search to get a new card reader and 12 million new cards and a new manual card punch. :)

P.S. It's "sure". :)
