PDP-8 Single Board using IM6100

The RK05 controller is a Data Break device and I have no idea if your approach with the PIC allows the pic to directly talk to the 6100's memory.

Doug,

The design as it stands does not support a Data Break interface.
I suppose I could add this but could I also emulate the RK05 with a custom handler?

I've started looking at the SerialDisk project and it looks like something similar is done there.
Not sure how difficult it would be though.

Well, you can always do your own handler. Not at all certain which would be more difficult. Since you have a running system on emulated RX01 it should be fairly straightforward to do a custom handler. It is a lot easier if you don't care about booting from the device.

Those prices are not nearly as bad as I thought, but there is the concern about if they really have them...and of course, used...but you must have had good luck with them.

I have only used utsource occasionally: for obsolete stuff - so far no issues.

I purchased two 6120s from them and they both work fine; I also got two 6120s from eBay and they also seem fine. Only two have been run extensively. One of the ebay ones and one of the utsource ones - so far no problems. I did see 6120s on eBay at ridiculous prices! eBay requires a lot of care when purchasing semiconductors; anything that can be obtained from Digi-Key, Farnell and so on usually comes from them.

Another holiday break and more progress on the IM6100 single board. It really is great fun playing with PDP-8 code.

It now supports RK05 (RK8E) and Dectape (TC08) images as well as the RX01. I’ve also added EAE functionality. The maindecs for these are passing.

I would also like to add RL8A drive emulation. Does anyone know if any PDP-8 RL01 disk images are available anywhere for download?

Also looking for the RL8A maindec listings (AJRLA,B,C,D,E)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

This may be old news, but I too ordered four HD1-6120-9 from UTSOURCE recently. Easy to deal with and the items arrived quickly, well packaged and extremely clean. I don't know what they actually do to 'refurbish' but the pins were bright and shiny and looked to have been never inserted in a socket (close inspection showed no significant scratching.) I ran each on my SBC6120 board for quite a few hours and there were no problems encountered. And since they claim to have more then 38000 in stock, I doubt we are going to go wanting any time soon :) .
