It’s a lot easier to have fun here when you don’t have someone complaining in every thread that’s about a computer architecture they happen to personally dislike.

Re-read my post carefully. Depreciated != Discontinued. The 915 and 925 chipsets were the last Intel chipsets to have Windows 98 support.

This was in reference to your original post stating that all Pentium 4 systems support Windows 98, which is false.

You're forgetting the disk controller driver, unless you want to be stuck in IDE compatibility mode in PIO mode for crippled disk performance.

Constructive dissent that is validated by others can be good, continued singular discord, well, it usually doesn't go over well. Even a compelling dissent only goes so far before it becomes condescending dribble. There's a saying, choose you wars ever so carefully for it will make your battles more sensible and more worthy of sponsorship! Most people here, they just want to have fun and have help and compassion in that pursuit!

You drawing comparisons between discussion about a computer processor to politics is one of the reasons that I feel this debate will go nowhere. I feel like this thread has run its course, we’re just going to keep going in circles should it continue.

Nahh, too quick to respond, reread please! Haters on a given topic always have a choice to choose how they respond. How do you choose to represent your views? Is this worth proving a point, or not? Your words, your choice. Freedom of speech doesn't mean there wont be reactions or consequences. Choose your ways to influence outcomes that have importance and meaning to you and consequences you will be confident in being accountable to answer for!
 
At the end of the day its two sides of the same coin. "Ewaste". One opinion vs the other. And the vast majority of consumers on the planet would lump us all together and label us morons for our perceived "stupid hobby". Therefore.. who cares. Were all wrong.

Why ewaste when someone's trash is another's tressure? Is your opinion the only that should matter? What if some misguided world leader declared humanity is a waste and pushed the red button? Where would that leave your right to have an opinion?

Ok peaches.. ill explain it in fewer words..(dont worry no buzzwords). All vintage computers are ewaste. The masses more than likely find our hobby dumb.... So at the end of the day... The argument is irrelevant..

To sum up the P4 and in the words of Jerry Reed; "When You're Hot, You're Hot" Fast chip, never really made a dent, got slam dunked by that dual core phenom. Great for the collector to put on display and say "looky here". (No flaming please, just my opinion)
