Poqet PC Plus - can't use an SRAM card

I've just bought a Poqet PC Plus second hand from California Digital and I am trying to use a 1 MB Pretec SRAM card in it. I bought this card because it can be read by a Windows computer, while the SRAM card I bought with the Poqet can't because it has no attribute memory.

The Poqet formats the card and knows its size, but when I try to access the card by typing A: or copying to it, I get either an 'Invalid drive specification' or 'Error reading drive A: drive not ready, abort/retry/fail' message.

What's going on? I can use the card perfectly well in my Windows computer and I've tried this after formatting it in the Poqet and after formatting it on Windows.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I remember the Poqet was pretty picky about which SRAM cards it would use.
I think you'd have a better chance using the card that came with it.

You also don't mention which version of Windows you're using.
XP might not be able to do what you want.
The Poqet PC was contemporary with Windows 95:

Have you asked your question on the (new) Poqet PC mailing list?

The original Poqet PC list shut down years ago,
but you can still search the archive:

Thanks, I forgot to mention that I'm using Windows XP and it won't read non-attribute SRAM cards.

However, I can use a Windows 98 machine and I will try that tomorrow with the SRAM card that I bought with the Poqet. If it works, I will keep doing it that way.

Either way it looks like I won't be needing my new 1 MB SRAM card with attribute memory. I wonder if anyone would want to buy it on eBay.
