Possible pdp-8 available

Looks like I will be taking a job in New Mexico (once the offer is finalized) and am considering putting my pdp-8s up for availability. I don't really do much with them, and hate the idea of storing, and shipping of both would be difficult (plus I don't know where I would be living for some time).

I have an 8i and 8e. The 8i is a four rack system, with TU56/TC08, RK8, two RK01s, lots of disks, PC8i (reader/punch), 8k core, 24k Fabrtitek expansion (does not work due to blown -15v transformer), 2 DF32s, DW08a, lots of books, lots of extra flip chips, lots of dectaps reels.

The 8e is a single rack system with 32k core, RK8e, 2 RK05s, many extra RK05 packs, VT52, VT510, and extra boards.

Where are you located again? Woah.. 4 rack not just 4u? (ignorance I know) Very neat either way. So you're not gonna road trip it with a uhaul and meet the new neighbors for some help lifting that into your 3rd floor apartment? ;-)
 
Yes, 4 full height (6 foot) DEC racks. I'll try to post a picture of it when I get home. Very impressive to have in your living room. :)

The DW08a is a posibus to negibus converter. So older peripherals can still be used. Ill have to upload a pic somewhere so I can add a link.

Is that the 8i? I had marked which lights were out on the TC08 status panel with little blue stickies. :)
 
Folks,

I just wanted to interject here, that in the past, when I visited Tim to buy the PDP-8/A, I did get to see his setup. It truly is awesome (especially the 8/I), and I wish I had the space, time and money to pay Tim what it's worth and set it up.

I really hope someone (or an institution like a museum or CS dept) steps up to preserve this collection - truly a labor of love.

Are you taking much computer stuff with you, or are you looking to sell most of it to ease your move?

It's such a long distance move I am thinking of minimizing what I take and moving myself. I'd still have to put these in storage when I arrived as I would not know
where I would be living for a bit. So it's just easier. I have kind of lost interest in tinkering with them. And want to get back to doing some astronomy. And New Mexico
night skies should be good for that. Much better than here in Pa.

Yes, I did lots of viewing when I was growing up in Mass. The night skies in western Mass were quite dark, so I could set quite a bit. I only had a small 3 inch refractor, but used it alot with and without
a camera mouted at the prime focus. Down here where I ilve now it barely gets dark at night. Yes, I can see the brightest stars, but not much else. New Mexico should have very dark skies and let
me use the scope I bought 2 years ago when I thought I was going out to Boulder, Co.

Would have been fun to try to use the pdp-8e somehow with the scope.

I know its too late, but what is the "24k Fabrtitek expansion" is it core? any one got a link to some info on it?
