I recently aquired another 286 motherboard and noticed that the little blue CMOS battery had corrosion on it. I decided to replace it with a more modern coin type CR-2032 and holder which fit perfectly. My main question about doing this is there any harm to the 2032 battery? Cause if memory serves correctly the motherboard sends a trickle charge to the battery i mean it won't overheat will it it seems to me it would just be a few milliamps.
Any inputs would be apprecitated.;)

Hi
Without disabling the charging circuit, you risk explosion and fire. Why not just
get a portable phone battery ( NiCad ). Most are 3 cell and can be mounted remotely.
