I was just wondering if you could still send and recieve E-Mails with the Apple Newton MessagePads, or if they needed some special service that is now defunkt.

Question about MessagePad

I quickly fired up mine and it insisted I try to connect using either eWorld or some other defunct ISP.

Aren't they supposed to work with good 'ol AOL ? You can always try asking AOL customer support
Seriously, though, I'm not sure what version you have, but there used to be something called NIE (Newton Internet Enabler) that provided a TCP/IP stack, and once you have a stack...
