Hi on one of my IBM 5150 it has this IBM logo full size floppy drive

I would like to know are the connector #3 to #8 plug correctly ?

Anyone know the brand and model of this type of floppy drive and is there a PDF manual ?

Thank you.

Should be a model number on the back.
Possibly a Tandon.
Looks like you may be missing a terminator resistor if you are using it as the A: drive.

Are you asking because it's not working as expected?

It is probably a Tandon TM-100 (either -1 or -2). That was the full height model most commonly used by IBM. Bitsavers has a manual. There are circuit diagrams that should show those connectors and what is cabled to them. I am finding it difficult to locate the specific page that shows what plugs into those connectors.

What problem are you having with the drive that makes you suspect an incorrect cabling issue? Is the drive writing the wrong side of the disk? IIRC, those connectors distribute power around the drive.

The 5150 has a harddrive and 1 floppy drive, when booting the floppy drive make a horrible noise so I was thinking perhaps the connector #3 to #8 was plug incorrectly.

I have lubricate the floppy drive rails and clean the head already.

Other than the sound the I can boot to either floppy drive if there a disk or to the c drive.

My other 5150 floppy drive look like the following picture 3, picture 4 with is different from the one I am having noise issue.

Probably best to pull the drive and find a model number. Maybe check the belt on the bottom too.

So it still works even with the horrible noise?

Is the horrible noise before inserting a disk or only when a disk is inserted? That would be the difference between a failing motor versus the read/write heads catching on the disk. Other causes may be more likely.

The horrible noise happen when I first boot the computer without or with floppy disk.

After the booting process, just regular floppy drive sound when reading or writing to the floppy.

I did pull out the floppy drive before and check everywhere the sticker is long gone and whatever is printed to the floppy drive fade away so I cannot identify the brand and the model #.

By the way anyone know where I can buy the terminator chip T-RES instead of pulling out from another floppy drive ?

Check the link Modem7 posted in post 8, there is some discussion on the resistor. Although I am not sure if the ohm values are the same.

You could just do what Romanon did in that thread, and just shove some resistors in the socket once someone can confirm the value.

I just measured a terminator resistor I took out of a Tandon 360k IBM branded drive. 150ohms. It looked like the one in your picture except yellow.
